Prior to 5 Lakes Energy, Kaei gained experience in the justice space translating technical and legal jargon into accessible language. As part of the U.S. Justice Department’s Office of Public Affairs, she led the Antitrust Division’s digital strategy and supported media relations efforts of the Antitrust, Criminal, Civil and Tax Divisions. Kaei worked as a writer and researcher covering voting rights litigation in battleground states during the 2024 general election season. She also spent a summer as an executive communications intern with SKDK, helping organizational leaders in the energy and environment sector build and deliver clear messages to advance clean energy. 

Kaei holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Michigan and a BS in international relations from Georgetown University. A native of Metro Detroit, she now lives in Washington, D.C. where she enjoys reading, knitting, and exploring the theater scene.
