In her “what’s next” address, Gov. Whitmer cited findings from The Michigan Clean Energy Framework, which forecasted the major economic, public health, and other benefits that would result from Michgian adopting a comprehensive suite of state-level clean energy policies (Detroit Free Press, Sept. 1, 2023). Co-authored by 5 Lakes Energy and the Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council, the report was released at an event in Detroit featuring Michigan Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist II, who said the report showed the need for legislation to codify the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy’s MI Healthy Climate Plan (Detroit Metro Times, Aug. 10, 2023).
