Tomorrow – February 14th, 2013 – is the first of Governor Snyder’s Energy Public Forums. The forums and the website are collecting comments on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and electric choice. You can review the questions that are being asked here.
The Governor presented his outline for Energy and the Environment in November after the election. His premise is that energy policy should be based on an “adaptable” foundation and should focus on reliability, affordability and protecting the environment. If you are interested, the hour-long presentation is here.
He also said he wanted to hear from the public on energy. At the end of January, the Energy Listening Sessions were announced. They start this Thursday, February 14th in Lansing and continue with six sessions around the state including Marquette, Traverse City, the Bay Region, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, and Detroit. You can find the whole list here.
The Governor wants to hear about three major topics: renewable energy, energy efficiency, and electric choice. Many businesses and organizations in Michigan are passionate about renewables and efficiency because of their business interest or because of a focus on sustainability.
