JOSH DENZLER

5LE deepens its expertise in utility operations and finances with the additions of Consultant Josh Denzler

Josh has spent his entire career in the utility sector, starting with an internship at DTE Energy after his freshman year of college in the company’s Gas Construction and Planning Department. After earning a Bachelor of Business Administration (with Distinction) from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, Denzler remained with DTE as a full-time employee. For the majority of his eight-year tenure there, he was part of the Electronic Distribution Operations team. In addition to serving as a Distribution Lines Designer (or Service Planner as DTE calls them), Josh was tapped to lead special projects in electric distribution and corporate strategy.

Immediately prior to joining 5LE, Josh spent a year in marketing tools with a private company that sells data science tools within the industry. Through this work, Denzler gained deep insights into how utilities can leverage modern tools such as AI and machine learning to optimize spending across their operations.

At 5LE, Josh uses his inside-the-industry experience and expertise to hold utilities accountable for maximizing customer benefit in their investment decisions. He also evaluates utility Cost of Service Studies and advocates for equitable distribution of costs across customer classes.

A lifelong Metro-Detroiter, Josh lives in Beverly Hills with his wife, two dogs, two cats, and the foreign exchange students who the family regularly hosts. He is also currently in the process of becoming a Licensed Local Pastor within the United Methodist Church.
