Prior to joining 5 Lakes Energy, David worked in the nonprofit sector to advance renewable energy and community resilience. He completed master’s degrees in business and resource policy from the University of Michigan, winning the 3M Prize in Industrial Ecology for applied research using life cycle assessment.
At 5 Lakes Energy, David supports the ongoing development and use of a modeling tool that evaluates electric utility resource options. David also serves as executive director of the Michigan Energy Efficiency Contractors Association (MEECA), a network of companies working in the state’s growing clean energy sector.
Beyond his experience in policy analysis, David also brings a technical perspective to his role. He previously served as an engineering officer in the U.S. Navy and worked as a design engineer in the private sector. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University.
Outside of 5 Lakes Energy, David is President of the Board of Michigan Energy Options and sits on the External Advisory Board of the University of Michigan’s Center for Sustainable Systems.
David and his wife Gwen are natives of Cincinnati and reside in East Lansing, Michigan.
