Life is good in a Volt. I’m over 2,000 miles and loving the car. It’s just a great ride. The kids are still loving all the new entertainment like the nav system and listening to the iPod in the car.
My portable charge cord conked out a week ago. It was during a Friday night charge. I went to the store Saturday morning and the charge wasn’t full but the car had been plugged in for enough time. My husband checked all the outlets and service to make sure it wasn’t the garage. I let GM know on Saturday and they responded before the end of the day. They said to take the car and charge cord to the dealer to confirm the issue and they would send a new one. The dealer quickly confirmed the problem and I had the replacement over night. The bummer is that I had to do more gas driving than I would like. The good news is I’m getting around 47 mpg.
I need the level 2 charger, but I’m still waiting to do it on the new garage.
I’m using my Volt like a “regular” car. I don’t modify my driving (dramatically) to extend the battery and I accelerate normally. The switch from electric to gas is seamless, you don’t do anything and can barely tell, unless you are waiting the dash.
